Fistral Spa members shine at the Newquay 10k
February ushered in one of Newquay’s most anticipated sporting moments as hundreds of runners gathered for the Newquay 10k, hosted by Newquay Road Runners. Among them were our incredible Fistral Spa members – part of Philema’s Fistral Beach Hotel and Spa in Newquay – who showed unwavering commitment, community spirit and impressive resilience from start to finish.
What began back in November as a 12‑week Run Club training journey became something truly special. Every Saturday at 7am, through cold mornings, coastal winds, winter showers and those rare bright breaks of sunshine, our members turned up. Step by step, week by week, they built strength, confidence and camaraderie. proving that consistency is where transformation happens.
Race day arrived with classic February drizzle, but the atmosphere was electric. A sold‑out crowd of 817 runners lined up on Whitegate Road, undeterred by the weather or the miles ahead.
This year also brought a touch of history: the men’s course record was finally broken, with Peter Le Grice crossing the line in an extraordinary 30:39. Emma Stepto’s long‑standing women’s record was narrowly missed, adding even more excitement to an already remarkable day.
To every Fistral Spa member who trained, showed up, pushed through and crossed that finish line – and the Fistral Spa trainers who were with them along the way – we are so incredibly proud of you. Whether you chased a personal best, conquered a new distance, or simply ran for the joy of being part of something bigger, you achieved something meaningful.
Here’s to resilience. Here’s to community. Here’s to the determination that inspires us all. Bring on next year.
